The thing is, with MechWarrior games, and a number of PC games in general, there's a whole lot of stuff you can do in the game, and it requires a keyboard with its abundance of keys to utilize them. The new consoles would certainly do it justice in terms of visuals. If there were a good enough joystick and perhaps even a pedal setup, it might fare better. Everybody knows that first-person shooters are better on the PC, and I think that MechWarrior 4 would turn out to be the same story. The problem with this decision is that I feel that games that were made for the PC were made for it with good reason. My second choice would be MechWarrior 4, since WWII Online has already been WWII Online on the PlayStation.

I'd like to pick a massively multiplayer RPG as my choice, but in light of the disastrous WWII Online release and the problems that are being encountered with Black & White (as along as it leaves all of its bugs behind in the port), but of course, it's already coming out for nearly every console imaginable. The Dreamcast had more for me, but not enough.

I found myself playing more PC games in the past year, because the PS and N64 couldn't hold my interest, and the PS2 had a really rough start in terms of games that I wanted to play. I play PC games whenever there isn't something appealing on a console at that point in time. The PC is sort of a fallback for me, one that I'm not very faithful too. Can you think of a better potential console game? If so, please let us know-we're currently conducting research.ĭiscuss PC-to-console ports in our class="gslink"> Trevor Rivers Assistant A/V Producer WWII Online (PC).Īs a gamer, I split my time between PC games and console games a little strangely. There's too much going on in either side to limit yourself to just one, if you have the option not to. We're firm believers that gamers should diversify their catalogs, and check out the best of what both realms-console, and PCs-have to offer. Some are old, and some are new, but when it comes down to it, all of the games we've picked are solid. In any rate, this week, we've asked ourselves to focus on a certain PC game that we'd think would do well on a console platform. The PS2 version of Quake III is a good example of this the game gained not only a workable console control-scheme in the process, but also a healthy single-player game, complete with character-advancement. Still, recent years have shown that PC port-houses have shown a higher-level on consciousness, when it comes to making their games the best they can be, given their target platforms. Games like Doom, StarCraft, and Sim City were on consoles soon after they were released on the PC platform, and-as games like Black & White, and Tribes 2 make evident-this trend shows no signs of reversing. In truth, it has been that way for a while. The proliferation of PC-to-console ports either on shelves now, or currently in the works would lead one to believe that this sort of thing is commonplace. In any event, it can be assumed that the motivation for such ports is there developers merely need the blessings of the console manufacturers. Whether Microsoft would allow that, though, is another story. Due to the system's architecture, developers thus motivated could easily port their PC-born projects over to the Xbox, which would very likely result in a nice spike in sales. Though it may hate the fact, Microsoft knows its Xbox is prime real-estate for all kinds of PC-to-console ports.
